Double-Double laminates are a recent proposition in which the orientation of the fibers are given by an angle-ply [±Φ/±Ψ]r, therefore it is important to understand their mechanical behaviour and evaluate their advantages in regards to traditional laminates. In the aeronautical industry, low velocity impacts are known to reduce the residual strength of composites, especially in compression and, for that reason, damage resistance and damage tolerance are key criteria in the design of these structures. The objective of this work is to develop damage models for two composites with different stacking sequences, which predicts the damage response of the material. The capability of the numerical model to reproduce experimental tests will be firstly assessed, to establish a comparison between the laminares. Lastly, the advantages of each material will be addressed, as well as refinement areas for the model utilized.
